(via AP) NEW YORK – Barbra Streisand will be honored as the 2011 MusiCares Person of the Year.
The Recording Academy and the MusiCares Foundation said Wednesday that Streisand will receive the award Feb. 11 at a dinner and concert in Los Angeles.
The annual gala is among the festivities that will lead up to the 53rd annual Grammy Awards on Feb. 13. The awards show will air on CBS.
The 68-year-old Streisand has won eight Grammy Awards. She is being honored for her creative accomplishments and philanthropic work.
MusiCares was established by The Recording Academy in 1989. It helps people in the music industry during times of need.
James Taylor and Aretha Franklin are among those who have been previously honored with the award.

The line received some initial success when it was debuted in 2008, but took a hard hit from the economy’s decline in 2009.

The Grammy-winning singer swapped vows Saturday evening with NHL player Michael Fisher in a lavish ceremony at the Ritz-Carlton Lodge, Reynolds Plantation, in Greensboro, Ga., E! News has confirmed.
More than 250 guests were in attendance, including country super couple Tim McGraw and Faith Hill.
“We could not feel more blessed to have found each other and to have shared this day with our friends and family that mean so much to us!” the newlyweds said in a statement to People.
During the ceremony, which reportedly featured the couple’s favorite Bible verses and classical music, The 27-year-old blushing bride walked down the aisle in a Monique Lhuillier chantilly lace gown. Her bridesmaids donned dresses by the coveted designer as well.

British singer and television personality Cheryl Cole, is currently being treated for malaria in a London hospital.
According to Britain’s tabloids, Cheryl collapsed during a photo shoot for her album on Saturday and was told to rest. However, her conditioned worsened and she was rushed to the hospital.
Cole recently returned from a short break in Tanzania with her friend and dancer Derek Hough, according to BBC.

Country singer Sheryl Crow just announced some more exciting baby news on her blog. The 48-year-old singer and single mom shared on her official blog on Friday (June 4) that she’s adopted another baby boy.
“Hey Everybody! I have some exciting news to share with you guys. Wyatt has a new little brother! Levi James was born April 30th. Just wanted you all to be the first to hear the good news!”
Sheryl adopted Wyatt in 2007.
